How to install HUM
------------------
1. Use Winzup to unzip the HUM file, and extract the setup files to your PC. If you do not have Winzip installed on your PC, it is available from http://www.winzip.com
2. Click on the file setup.exe on your PC, HUM will lead you through a series of steps.
- HUM will launch this readme.txt file for you to read.
- Click "Next" to start HUM's installation.

- If your mobile device is already connected, click "yes" to install Hum to the default directory. Now choose the destination you want to save HUM, either in main memory or your storage card. HUM will proceed to install on your mobile device.
- If your mobile device is not already connected, HUM will be downloaded to your device on the next mobile device connection.
After installation, you can start HUM by clicking on Start -> Programs -> Utopiasoft HUM.
Due to the restriction imposed by Windows CE, to play your MP3 or WAV files, please use Windows CE Explorer to copy the files to any folders within the "My documents" directories.
For example: (on your HPC/PPC)
\My Documents\Hum\
\Storage Card\My Documents\Hum
Or similar directories in localized versions of Windows CE.
If HUM plays slowly, skips or appears to be locked up, it means that your system doesn't have sufficient memory, in which case you would need to close some other applications.
A good way to find out how well your device is playing is by looking at the AdaptivePlay(tm) status. Usually the quality of sound will degrade as the number gets low.
Another possibility is that the MP3 you are playing is not edcoded using the standard sampling rate like 11KHz, 22KHz and 44KHz. Decoding non-standard sampling rate requires extra CPU power. On some less powerful devices, the music will break.
Due to the fact that the connection between your device and desktop PC is slow, it may take a long time even to copy one audio file. Therefore, it is recommend that you use a notebook PC or a CompactFlash(tm) adapter connected to your PC to copy the files directly on to the Storage Card.

Known issues
------------
1. The Problem: HUM skips or plays slowly even when all other programs have been closed.
Possible Cause A: This may happen if the device is connected to the desktop PC while HUM is playing. When connected, the device uses more CPU power and Program Memory to constantly handle any communication between the device and the desktop PC hence degrading the performance of HUM.
The Solution: Try to increase Program Memory using the steps described in "Important notes before installing HUM". If the problem persists, use HUM while the device is disconnected.
Possible Cause B: Some MP3 files are encoded with non-standard sampling rate. For example, 48KHz. In order to play these MP3s, Hum requires a lot more CPU power than normal sampling rates like 11KHz, 22.05KHz, and 44KHz.
The Solution: Please make sure that the MP3s you try to play is encoded in standard sampling rates.
2. When double tapping the Playlist button, sometimes the dialog box appears behind Hum's main window.
Possible Cause: Some devices cannot create the dialog box fast enough so Hum's main window gets the input focus.
The Solution: Simply click on the Hum logo on your taskbar and the dialog box will be brought to the foreground.
3. For mono PPC and color HPC 2.0 devices, after installing the color skin from Http://www.utopiasoft.com/skin, the control button bitmaps are not updated. This is normal. This issue will be resolved in future releases of Hum.
